A municipal paving program was completed Tuesday, Andalusia Director of Public Works Glynn Ralls said. But the costs were less than projected, so Wiregrass Construction will soon resurface additional streets in the city.

The original plan called for paving on portions of 14 city streets. Ralls said he already added a few extra ones to the list while the crew was here, and that they will return for approximately $50,000 in additional work in the near future. The work to date totaled $413,000.

Council members asked him to use his discretion in choosing which streets would be paved.

In other action, the council:

• Agreed to take $78,000 from its capital account to pay off a note at PowerSouth. PowerSouth financed a spec building in the industrial park a number of years ago. The council already applied the $200,000 in proceeds from the sale of a previous spec building to the note, and satisfied the debt Tuesday in its entirety with Tuesday’s vote.
