The Florala Wildcats’ football team has seen growth this summer from its players as they look to bounce back from a tough 2015 season.
“These guys have really put in a lot of work this summer,” Florala head coach Brad Rhodes said. “We have had a strong turnout to our summer workouts.”
That work ethic is something that Rhodes said the Wildcats must continue in order to be competitive in 2016.
“The guys have to keep up this level of work ethic,” Rhodes said. “We don’t have the biggest number of players, and the ones we have are going to have to be willing to put in the extra effort.”
Last season, the Wildcats were a young team, but did have a few key players that graduated.
“When had some guys that we have to replace,” Rhodes said. “This summer, I saw some things from the younger guys and I just hope that they can translate that into the season.”
Rhodes said overall he was pleased with the turnout during summer workouts and with the intensity that the Wildcats competed with.
“Most everyone came out for all of the workouts,” Rhodes said. “The only one we haven’t seen this summer has been Trey Burleson, and that is because he has been in basic training this summer. He will be back before we start fall practice, but I’m not really worried about him not coming to camp in shape.”
Florala will open the season with home game against J.U. Blacksher on Aug. 29.
