What a way to kick off the season

I know we have just started the 2016 high school football season, but I already have a feeling that this could be a really good year for some schools in Covington County.

Last Friday’s preseason game between Straughn and Red Level got things started strong.

Straughn came away with a big win over the smaller classified Tigers, but both teams showed they have improved squads heading into 2016.

Andalusia’s game Saturday night was another impressive performance. For a season-opener in the biggest spotlight those kids have ever been in, they showed poise and control. They dealt with a nearly two-hour delay and kept their composure through the frustration.

There are still plenty of things that each teams need to work on, but the signs are looking good for a lot of the local teams.

It’s still early and a lot of things can change, but I think we are in for one exciting football season in 2016.
