Ruby Diane Smith

Mrs. Ruby Diane Smith, 63, of Andalusia, passed away Sun., Aug. 28, 2016, in the Opp hospital.

Funeral services will be at 10 a.m. Wed., Aug. 31, 2016, from Foreman Funeral Home Chapel with Minister Diane B. Everette officiating. Interment will follow in Macedonia Cemetery in Rose Hill. Visitation will be at 9 a.m. Wednesday at Foreman Funeral Home.

She is survived by her sister and brother-in-law, Vicki and John Clark of Andalusia; two brothers, Billy Smith of Andalusia and Michael Smith of Century, Fla.; a sister-in-law, Juni Smith of Andalusia; her nieces and nephews, Billy Smith, Jr., Michael “Bubba” Smith, Mandi (Dave) Morris, Griffin Smith, John Clark IV, Matthew (Shelli) Smith, Kellye (Kevin) Rodgers, and Justin (Tamara) Smith; nine great-nieces and nephews; and one great-great niece.

She is preceded in death by her parents, Bill and Ruby Smith, and her brother, Roger Dale Smith.

Pallbearers will be Griffin Smith, Matthew Smith, John Clark IV, Justin Clark, Dave Morris, and Kevin Rodgers.

The family will accept flowers or memorials may be made to the Macedonia Cemetery fund.

Byron Wayne Rawls

Mr. Byron Wayne Rawls, 71, of Andalusia, passed away Sat., Aug. 27, 2016, in the Andalusia Hospital.

Funeral services will be at 1:30 p.m. Tues., Aug. 30, from Foreman Funeral Home Chapel. Interment will follow in Pleasant Home Cemetery. Visitation will be at 12:30 p.m. Tuesday at Foreman Funeral Home.

He is preceded in death by his parents, Byron F. and Annie Louise Faircloth Rawls.

Survivors include his aunt, Mary Wyatt, and many cousins.

Bertrum Terry Pierce

Mr. Bertrum Terry Pierce, 82, of Andalusia, passed away Fri., August 26, 2016, in a Dothan hospital.

Funeral services were at 3 p.m. Sun., Aug. 28, from Foreman Funeral Home Chapel with Brother Jim Walker officiating. Interment followed in River Falls Cemetery. Visitation was at Foreman Funeral Home.

He is survived by his wife, Gloria Pierce of Andalusia; three sons and daughter-in-law, Bert and Sherry Pierce of Mobile, Vince Pierce and Lane Pierce, both of Andalusia; his grandchildren, Connor Pierce, Jay Brabner, Sarah Brabner; and one sister, Lytress Allen Monticello, Miss.

Reginald Herlon Cross

Mr. Reginald Herlon Cross, 69, of Red Level, passed away Sat., Aug. 27, 2016, at his residence.

Funeral services were at 3 p.m. Mon., Aug. 29, at New Hope Independent Baptist Church in Red Level with interment to follow in Mt. Carmel Cemetery. Visitation was Sunday at Foreman Funeral Home.

He is survived by four daughters and sons-in-law, Jenni Pate of Andalusia, Annie and Kenny Howell of Red Level, Kay and Red Piper of Ozark, and Sue and Mickey Moore of Prattville; seven grandchildren; and five great-grandchildren with two on the way.

He is preceded in death by his parents, Raymond Russell Cross and Ida Louise Spivey Cross, and a brother, Reagon Cross

Pallbearers were Tyler Mason, Braxton Moore, Zach Piper, Dusty Piper, Kyle Marlow, and J-Mack Danford.

Margarita Malave

Mrs. Margarita Malave, age 81, of Opp passed away Sat., Aug. 27, 2016, in Andalusia.

Funeral services will be held at 1 p.m., Thurs., Sept. 1, 2016, from St. Mary’s Episcopal Church with the Rev. Cindy Howard officiating. Burial will follow in the Stone Lake Gardens cemetery with Keahey Funeral Home directing. The family will receive friends from 5-7 p.m., Wed., Aug. 31, 2016, in the Keahey Funeral Home chapel.

Survivors include her sons, Augie Crespo of Miami, Fla., Tomas Malave of Andalusia, William Malave of Andalusia, Alberto Malave of New Jersey, and Rafael Malave of Andalusia; her daughter, Luz Margarita of Andalusia; brothers, Jose Herrera of New Jersey and Antonio Herrera of Puerto Rico; her sister, Maria Nieves of Puerto Rico; 17 grandchildren; and 21 great-grandchildren.

Pallbearers will be Joey Malave, Roberto Rodriguez, David Malave, Mario Koleser, Michael Koleser, Leonardo Rodriguez, Ruben Rodriguez and Daniel Fernandez.

 

Betty Benson

Mrs. Betty Benson was born June 15, 1934 in Wheaton, Mo., and passed away after a brief illness on Aug. 28, 2016, in West Monroe, La. Mrs. Betty’s love was her family. She enjoyed holidays, cooking and spending time with her children, grandchildren, and great-granddaughter. She is preceded in death by her husband, William M. Benson, and parents, Mr. and Mrs. D. O. Roller.

Mrs. Benson is survived by her sons, Mark Benson and wife Anne, Max Benson and wife Stephanie, and David Benson and wife Lana and Drew Benson; grandchildren, Leslie Riley, Will Benson, Beth Robinson, Abby Hunter, Jana Benson, Luke Benson and Beau Benson; one great-granddaughter, Ella Jay Robinson; and her sister, Peggy Taylor.

Visitation will be from 5 p.m. until 7 p.m. on Tues., Aug. 30, 2016, at Kilpatrick Funeral Home, West Monroe. A private committal for family will follow.

Sandra Grissett Messick

Mrs. Sandra Grissett Messick, 60, of Andalusia, passed away Fri., Aug. 26, 2016, at her residence.

A memorial service was held from 6-8 p.m. Sun., Aug. 28, from Foreman Funeral Home.

She is survived by her husband, Charles Messick of Andalusia; sons, Christopher Laith Messick of Huntsville and Russell Messick of Andalusia; daughters and sons-in-law, Kristen Renee and Edward Merrell of Alabaster and Roberta and Jason Hall, Sr. of Opp; grandchildren, Olivia Hall, Jason Hall, Jr., Gage Messick, and Sophie Merrell; parents, Wayne and Margaret Grissett of Andalusia; sisters and brothers-in-law, Sherry and David Green of Jefferson, Ga., and Fredia and Dewayne Smith of Andalusia; and two nieces, Ashley Grimsley and Anna Dwileski.
