The Andalusia varsity Lady Bulldogs came up with a big 3-1 victory over Kinston on Tuesday night in Andalusia.

“It’s great to get a win playing my old school,” Andalusia varsity head coach Angie Grimes said. “Getting a win over a great team like Kinston is amazing. That was a challenge that we needed.”

The Lady Bulldogs came out strong in the opening match and came away with a 25-22 victory.

Kinston took a late 21-19 lead, but Andalusia rallied back to take a 24-21 lead.

Tori English then came up with a big block to give Andalusia a 24-22 victory.

In the second game of the evening, the game went back-and-forth before Andalusia came away with another 25-22 victory.

Rachel Dayton put the momentum on Andalusia’s side when she put the Lady Bulldogs up 2-1 with an ace.

Kinston tied it back up before English broke the tie with a kill.

Anna Brady followed with a block to put Andalusia up 5-2.

Brady extended the Andalusia lead with another block a few plays later.

Kinston went up 19-18 late, but a score from Haley Harper knotted the game at 19-19.

English then served up three-straight aces to help give the Lady Bulldogs the win.

Kinston came out strong in the third game and came away with a 25-13 win to force a game-four.

Andalusia fell behind in the fourth game, but never gave up and earned a 25-22 victory.

Dayton and English had two aces to help lead the Lady Bulldogs to victory.

“The best the about the whole night was the way we fought back after falling behind,” Grimes said. “That is a sign of a great team. Thursday night we have a tri-match game against Geneva and Brantley. We would love to pack out the gym for those games. I encourage everyone to come support us.”
