The Straughn Lady Tigers topped Geneva 3-0 in area volleyball action Thursday night in Geneva.

“Credit our girls,” Lady Tigers head coach Daniel Rodgers said. “They were able to fight through.”

The Lady Tigers came out strong in the opening set and picked up a 25-13 win.

The second set the Lady Tigers jumped out front and held on for a 25-18 win.

In the third set, Geneva took a 17-11 lead, but Straughn fought back from a 25-22 victory.

“Halfway through the second set I thought we got a little too comfortable and let them hang around. Before we knew we were down 17-11 in the third set. Ashley Hughes and Laura Ashley Johns came through with some big serves to pull us through.”

Hughes paced the Lady Tigers with five aces in the match, and Johns had three.
