Alumni and friends returning to Red Level for homecoming will have plenty to do Friday and Saturday.

Friday’s itinerary will kick off with a breakfast at 8:30 a.m.

A homecoming pep rally will be held tonight at 6:30, at Bobby Dye Stadium.

The homecoming parade is set for noon, and will make its way down Main Street back to the high school.

Students will be released at 1 p.m. on Friday.

The Tigers will play J.F. Shields at 7 p.m.

Those attending should plan to stay an extra night to get in on the action at the Small Town Throwdown.

“The main purpose of the event is to provide our alumni with a chance to return to their Red Level,” said organizer Tori Adams. “Oftentimes, alumni have little to do after Friday’s festivities and game; therefore, the school decided to host an event for alumni and community members.”

Adams said the event will be held Sat., Sept. 24, beginning at 10 a.m. on Main Street in downtown Red Level.

There will be a 5K starting at 8 a.m., car show, vendors, games, water slides, food, doggy pageant and alumni sports.

The event is two-fold, she said.

“Additionally, hosting the event allows us to raise funds for our school and organizations,” she said. “A common challenge at small schools is fundraising. Overall, we are hoping to make a little money and enjoy a great day.”

Adams said there has been great response thus far.

“I expect to hear from more people planning to attend,” she said. “With so many family-friendly events, there is something everyone can enjoy. We encourage everyone to come out and enjoy this day with us; the more people the better.”
