0922-spt-shsThe Straughn Lady Tigers (14-0) look to keep their streak alive as they take on area foe Geneva tonight in Straughn.

This week the Lady Tigers have two big wins over Ariton and Dale County.

“At times we played really well, but then there where times when we weren’t playing as well,” Straughn head volleyball coach Daniel Rodgers said. “We kind of came out flat in both games, but got better as they games went along.”

Rodgers said that Lady Tigers are ready for tonight’s area match against Geneva.

“This is a going to be a big area game for us,” Rodgers said. “I’m proud that we are done with our road area games, and now we have to take care of business at home. Geneva has a couple of big hitters that can really stroke it, and we are going to have to play very sound volleyball.”

Rodgers also talked about what he sees as the keys to victory for the Lady Tigers.

“We are going to have to focus on being in the right spots on defense,” Rodgers said. “We have to challenge them at the net and swing through the blocks. We are also going to need to spread the ball around to keep their blockers off balance.”

Straughn and Geneva will begin at 4 p.m., beginning with a junior high match.
