The No. 5-ranked Opp Bobcats (4-1) are putting last week’s loss to Andalusia in the rear-view mirror as they prepare for Class 3A, Region 2 opponent Slocomb (1-4) on Friday night in Opp.

“We don’t have time to feel sorry for ourselves,” Opp head coach Brent Hill said. “We put the Andalusia game to rest on Sunday, and now we are focused on our region games.”

The Bobcats will face region opponent Slocomb on Friday at home.

Slocomb comes into the game having lost last week to Dale County 27-0.

Slocomb’s lone win of the season came in week three when they defeated Geneva 21-14.

“We have to focus on us and not get caught up in worrying about other things,” Hill said. “This game we just have to focus on being us. This is a region game and every region game is an important game.”

Opp leads the young series 2-1. The two teams last matched up in 2014 with Opp winning 33-17.

The Bobcats come into the game lead by senior quarterback Orlando Lacey.

Through five games, Lacey has thrown from 848 yards and nine touchdowns. Lacey has also rushed for 578 yards and seven touchdowns.

Opp and Slocomb will kickoff at 7 p.m., Friday at Channell-Lee Stadium.
