Opp PD makes arrests in wreck, assault

An Elba woman was arrested after a two-vehicle crash Saturday in Opp.

Opp Police Chief Mike McDonald said that patrol units responded to the crash on West Cumming Street around 4:11 p.m.

Alisha M. Lewis, 27, was arrested for driving under the influence, possession of marijuana second degree and possession of drug paraphernalia.

In a completely different investigation, an Opp man was jailed after a knife confrontation with another man Sunday night.

Opp Police Chief Mike McDonald said that at approximately 10:33 p.m., D-shift officers responded to a report of an assault with a knife at Lunsford Trailer Park.

Investigation revealed that Kota Head, 39, of Opp was involved in a confrontation with Frank Coon, 50, of Opp

Coon was detained by officers, and Head was transported by helicopter to a Dothan hospital.

Coon was arrested for assault second degree and taken to the Covington County Jail.
