Though Cancer Freeze may be a few months away, organizers are busy securing sponsors for the event, set for Feb. 4 at Lack Jackson in Florala.

Co-organizer Jennifer Davidson said that they are currently accepting T-shirt sponsors Cancer Freeze 2017.

Deadline to become a sponsor is Dec. 18.

Sponsorship levels are $500 for frozen; $250 for frigid; and $100 for frosty.

Davidson said they will release the 2017 beneficiaries some time in November.

Meanwhile, the organization has a turkey shoot set for Nov. 12, from 7 a.m. until 11 a.m. at Paxton Ag building.

The Davidsons – Caleb and Jennifer – established the event in 2007 in memory of family and friends who passed away from cancer. Proceeds are split among the beneficiaries each year.

The event features a bass tournament, pancake breakfast, chili cookoff, watersports and more.

The 2016 event was labeled the best in its history.

“There are no words to properly thank everyone who gave of their time and talents, who gave financially, physically, emotionally and spiritually to make Cancer Freeze 2016 the absolute best year ever,” Jennifer said. “I am so proud to be from Florala, Ala. Personally, I feel as if God gave us this beautiful lake to use for His glory.”
