Lady Bobcats topple Elba

The Opp Lady Bobcats picked up a big 2-0 win over Elba, but fell to Geneva 3-0 Tuesday in a tri-match in Geneva.

Opp and Geneva got things started, but Geneva came away with a 3-0 victory in the close match.

In the first set, a late rally gave Geneva a 25-20 win.

The second set went back-and-forth, but Geneva edged out the Lady Bobcats 25-21.

Opp continued to give a strong effort, but Geneva inched out another close game with a 25-21 win to sweep the Lady Bobcats.

Courtney Osborn had a big match for the Lady Bobcats picking up seven kills and 11 digs in the defeat.

Madi Henley had six kills and three blocks for Opp.

Maggie Short had 15 digs and Bailee Boyd totaled 22 assists and one ace for the Lady Bobcats.

In the second match of the day, the Lady Bobcats cruised past the Elba Lady Tigers 2-0.

Opp came out strong and determined in the first set as they rolled to a 25-9 win.

Much like the first set, the Lady Bobcats were firing on all cylinders as the topped Elba 25-11.

Short had another strong match as she led the Lady Bobcats with six kills, four aces and one block.

Jewel Robinson helped the Lady Bobcats to victory with five kills.

Boyd added to her successful day with eight assists and three aces in the win over Elba.

Gracie Donaldson tacked on two digs for the Lady Bobcats.

Opp and Geneva will face each other next week in Straughn for the Class 3A, Area 3 volleyball tournament.
