Children’s book signing, reading tonight

LAAC is hosting a photography exhibit and book signing at The Gallery at 5:30 tonight, Thurs., Oct. 13.

Andalusia native John Northrop and his wife, Ericka Northrop, have published a book Animal Impressions featuring his photography of animals and her poems about them.

Framed copies of the prints also will be on display and for sale.

The exhibit opened this past week, and The Gallery will host a reading for children and a reception at 5:30 p.m. on Thurs., Oct. 13.

The Northrops also will be signing copies of Mrs. Northrop’s The Witches’ Halloween Ball, which was illustrated by her son, Tom Northrop.

John Northrop is the retired head of the Alabama School of Fine Arts in Birmingham. Before his career as an educator, he was a photographer, reporter, and editor in various daily and weekly newspapers in Birmingham and American Samoa.

Ericka Northrop is a prize-winning children’s author who has published poems in Redbook, Saturday Evening Post, Humpty Dumpty, Jack and Jill, Dolphin Log, and others.
