One person was airlifted from the scene of a dirt bike accident near Libertyville.

The Libertyville Fire Department said that Advanced EMS responded to an accident at a local dirt bike track on County Road 34.

The patient was wearing a helmet, they said.

Dry conditions wreaked havoc on the helicopter landing.

Libertyville FD set up a landing zone for Okaloosa MedFlight, but the track had to be wet down.

Even with the wet ground, visibility at the landing zone was limited due to brown out conditions, officials said.

Brown out conditions occur when the rotor blades of the helicopter kick up the dirt causing a large dust cloud.

On Saturday the pilot had to rely on the fire department’s eyes and ears on the ground for guidance in landing and take off.

The name of the victim has not been released.
