Two separate accidents on Sunday claimed the lives of local women.
A McKenzie woman was killed in a three-vehicle crash Sunday evening.
LeAnn Marie Rodgers, 36, was killed when a 2001 Nissan Maxima she was driving was struck by a 2002 BMW before crossing the median and was struck by a 2017 Kenworth tractor trailer in the opposing lanes.
Rodgers, who was not using a seat belt, was pronounced dead at the scene.
The crash was on Interstate 65 five miles north of Evergreen.
Alabama State Troopers continue to investigate.
In a separate incident, Red Level Police are investigating a two-vehicle accident that claimed the life of an elderly Covington County resident.
Police Chief Howard West said that the incident occurred Sunday afternoon at the intersection of Hwy. 55 and County Road 82, also known as the Gantt-Red Level Road.
West said there was another injury as well.
He said the incident occurred in the southbound lanes of Hwy. 55 there at the caution light in the Red Level town limit.
West said the incident is still under investigation.
He is withholding the names of those involved until the investigation is complete.
