Bobcats clinch region championship

The Opp Bobcats traveled to Daleville to do battle in a winner take all game for the Class 3A Region 2 Championship.
The Warhawks scored first for an early 7-0 lead.
With just more than a minute remaining in the first Opp took the lead when Orlando Lacey hit Hennis Washington on a 22-yard touchdown pass.
After completing the two-point conversion Opp led 8-7.
On the final play of the first quarter, Hennis Washington picked off a Warhawk pass, and went 61 yards for a Bobcat touchdown and a 14-7 lead after one.
Washington scored four minutes into the second quarter to take a 20-7 lead.
Daleville scored just before the half to cut Opp’s lead to 20-14 at the break.
Lacey opened up the lead to 26-14 on an 18-yard run midway through the third quarter.
Daleville pulled to within five with a score just two minutes after Opp’s last touchdown.
Less than a minute later Washington scored his fourth touchdown of the game for a 32-21 lead after three.
Daleville cut the lead to three scoring with five minutes remaining for a 32-29 Opp lead.
Daleville forced Opp to punt setting up a potential game tieing drive.
The Warhawks first pass attempt of the drive was picked off by Spurlin Kelley icing the game for Bobcats sealing the win and the Class 3A Region 2 title.
Washington led Opp with 164 yards on 21 carries and 2 touchdowns. Washington also had a score receiving and an interception return for a touchdown. Lacey was 5 of 9 passing for 59 yards and a touchdown.
“I am real proud that all offense, defense, and special teams all made big plays to get a great victory” said coach Brent Hill after the game. “It was a championship game and was played by both teams on a championship level.”
Opp hosts Elba next Friday night to finish the regular season.
