Children’s Policy Council Director Susan Short said that the Drug Task Force recently collected some 102 pounds of prescription pills during their take back event at the National Night Out.

Short told policy council members on Tuesday that a new receptacle has been purchased and installed at the Opp Police Department. There was already one at the Andalusia Police Department.

Short said that locals may deposit their old, unwanted prescription pill and liquid bottles in the collection bins.

“Make sure you mark your name out,” she said.

Short said it is her understanding that the drug task force collects the pills weekly and disposes of them properly.

The police departments are open daily.

The receptacles were paid for by the Children’s Policy Council.
