The Andalusia Lady Bulldogs picked up a pair of wins at last week’s Class 4A South Regionals, and are looking to chase down a state title at the state tournament in Birmingham.

“I’ve been really proud of the way that the girls have been playing,” Andalusia head volleyball coach Angie Grimes said. “The last month of the season I’ve really seen a lot of improvement from them. They have been doing a good job of communicating and setting up plays.”

The Lady Bulldogs surged to life in the Class 4A South Regional tournament with a 3-1 victory over Handley to get the day started.

Next up, the Lady Bulldogs swept the Bibb County Lady Choctaws for a spot in the Class 4A state volleyball tournament in Birmingham.

The Lady Bulldogs have been led this season by Millie Manring, Haley Harper, Haley Ballard, Rachel Dayton and Tori English. Several other Lady Bulldogs including Mary Kathrine Salter have contributed strong points off the bench.

Andalusia opens up the tournament with Madison Academy today at 12:30 p.m.

“When you get to the state tournament, every team you play is going to be good,” Grimes said. “We have to be ready to play hard for every point.”
