PHS, SHS win County Cross Country meet

The Pleasant Home Eagles boys’ and the Straughn Lady Tigers took first place in the first ever Covington County cross country meet at LBWCC on Thursday afternoon.

In the opening race, Straughn’s girls squad took the top spot and Andalusia finished in second place.

Straughn’s Spirit Hall took first place in the meet with a time of 23:43.

Second place went Andalusia’s Catherine Yanes with a time 23:51.

Abigail Thomas finished in third place for the Straughn Lady Tigers with a time of 24:42.

Andalusia’s Callie Filmer came in fourth place with a time of  25:41.

Pleasant Home’s Cynthia Rodriguez clinched fifth place with a time of 26:14.

In the boys’ meet, Pleasant Home grabbed the top spot with a pair of top-five finishers.

Opp’s Cody Davis earned first place with a blistering time of 19:21.

Samuel Driver picked up a second place finish with a strong time of 19:52.

Mason Kelley of Pleasant Home finished in the third place with a time of 20:21.

Ben Parker came in fourth place for Andalusia with a time of 20:27.

Pleasant Home’s Nathaniel Erwin came in fifth place with a time of 20:44.
