Veterans Day parade plans detailed

Andalusia and Covington County will celebrate Veterans Day, Nov. 11, 2016, with a parade to honor veterans and POW/MIAs. Veterans are asked to arrive at the Andalusia High School stadium at 8:30 a.m. The parade will begin at 9 a.m. and end at the Covington County Veterans Memorial.

Floats will represent five of the wars in which veterans have fought, including World War II, Korean War, Vietnam War, Cold War Era, Desert Shield/Desert Storm War, Operation Enduring Freedom/Operation Iraqi Freedom War, World War I veterans will be recognized with a banner on an antique car.

An official ceremony will follow at the Covington County Veterans Memorial, located behind Andalusia City Hall. CMDCM (AW) Eric Mann will be featured as the event’s guest speaker.

All veterans are encouraged to participate.

 

If you are a veteran or if you’re a spouse or child/grandchild/great-grandchild of a veteran that has fallen/deceased, you are invited to ride on a float.

Veterans and their immediate families are invited to a reception at city hall at the conclusion of the ceremony. There will be shuttle buses available to take parade participants back to the stadium after the ceremony. The event is sponsored by the City of Andalusia and the Andalusia Area Chamber of Commerce.
