The Andalusia Adult Activity Center is looking to take a bus of 56 on a festive Christmas trip to Rock Ranch in Georgia.

The trip will begin by going to the “Coke Space Science Museum” in Columbus, Ga.

“I thought this would be fun,” said AAC Coordinator Sonja Godwin. “It would allow grandparents to get to do something with their grandchildren. I know some of them aren’t able to make trips by themselves and this would be a great Christmas gift for them to experience together. We will take a comfortable charter bus, so they won’t have to worry about driving.”

The science center houses a Challenger Learning Center, the Omnisphere Theatre, a 110-seat planetarium, and an observatory in addition to the exhibit gallery that is full of NASA Shuttle artifacts, cool science displays and fun simulators.

In addition to the other activities, Godwin said, there will be a flight simulator where you will experience a flight into space to either the moon or Mars.

That will be an additional $25 charge.

The child must at least be in the fifth grade to participate.

“We will have lunch and then explore the many exhibits and projects at the museum,” she said. “We will then make our way to the most memorable place in Georgia for Christmas – Rock Ranch. They have wagon and train rides through a mile of Christmas lights.”

Godwin said the ride will feature falling snow, a snowflake tunnel, and a dancing light show.

Cost of the trip is $120 or $145 with the simulator.

Deadline to sign up is Nov. 15.
