Warren named new RF chief

The town of River Falls has a new police chief.

Mayor Patricia Gunter appointed Cody Warren to the position Monday night.

“I look forward to working with Cody,” she said.

Former chief Greg Jackson said he was notified prior to the meeting that he would not be reappointed.

Gunter said she didn’t want to comment about her decision to fire Jackson.

In other decisions made at Monday’s organization meeting:

  • Cleveland Harris was appointed mayor pro tem;
  • MaryAnn Andrews was named town clerk;
  • Chris Sledge was named prosecuting attorney;
  • William Alverson was named city attorney;
  • John Jones, who was appointed municipal judge in May, will continue in that position.

On Monday night, Gunter and the new council – Harold Barnes, Brooke Williams, Richard Bowden, Bob Lynch and Cleveland Harris were administered the oath of office by Circuit Judge Ben Bowden.

The council also changed their meeting time to the third Tuesday of every month at 6 p.m.
