More than 250 people have signed up for Andalusia’s Community Christmas, and there is one more opportunity for those who need assistance to sign up, organizer Larry Avery said.
“We anticipate another 75 to 100 kids,” he said. “So, right now, we are on track to match last year.”
Late registration will be Thursday, from 3 p.m. until 7 p.m., at Andalusia Elementary School.
Avery said locals should be on the lookout for angels for adoption at local merchants.
Those who wish to sponsor a child with a check may mail a donation to Community Christmas, P.O. Box 1525, Andalusia, AL 36420.
Those who need to participate in Thursday’s late registration must present the following documents at the time of registration:
- Picture ID (For the parent registering the children; i.e. driver’s license, school ID, work photo ID, etc.)
- Birth certificate for each child. Only parents and legal guardians are allowed to register their children. No grandparents, aunts or other individual unless they are legal guardians with documentation of guardianship.
- A Social Security card for each child or legal document with their social security number.
- Proof of residence – Current bill or rent receipt that shows your physical address. No post office addresses are accepted.
- Proof of government assistance (WIC, Medicaid, SSI, etc.)
All documents must be presented at the time of registration.
The program assists children age 2 to 10, who live in Andalusia, Straughn, Red Level and Pleasant Home.
