The Alabama Wildlife Federation will host its annual Wild Game Cook-Off Thursday at the Covington Center Arena.

“We should probably have the same core group of cooks that come out each year,” organizer Hunter Grimes said. “I feel like there will probably be around 15 cook teams this year.”

Grimes said the cooks will be there all day preparing their dishes for the crowd and judges. Gates open to the public at 6 p.m.

Along with lots of different food, Grimes said that there will also be things there to bid on.

“We will have our silent auction with several different items,” Grimes said. “This year we also have a couple of guns that we are going to raffle off.”

Grimes said the event has been a success in past and hopes that this year it will be the same.

“The food is the main event, that’s why everyone comes out,” Grimes said. “This isn’t food that you are going to be order at a restaurant or pick up at the grocery store.”

Membership to the Alabama Wildlife Federation is required to enter, but can be purchased at the door. Membership is $40 and allows two people to enter and eat.
