Andalusia native Shel Douglass died in a Huntsville wreck Thursday morning.

Dougalss, who lived in Huntsville, died in an early-morning accident near the I-565 interchange, according to news reports.

Investigators say traffic was stopped on Memorial Parkway due to congestion at the interchange when an 18-wheeler that was traveling northbound struck the rear of a Chevy Malibu that was being driven by Douglass, 45, as it was sitting in traffic.

Investigators say Douglass was transported to the hospital where he died as a result of his injuries. The accident is still under investigation.
