The Andalusia Lady Bulldogs look like they have a strong team in the building, according to head basketball coach Brad Garner.
“I’m really liking what I’m seeing so far at practice,” Garner said. “We have three seniors this year and five juniors, so we are going to be able to start a lot of girls that have some experience.”
The Lady Bulldogs added a new assistant coach that Garner said really helps the team.
“Monty Russell agreed to come in as an assistant coach this year for us and he is going to be a big asset,” Garner said. “He is a retired basketball coach from Baker, so he has head coaching experience, albeit with guys. He has brought in a few things that I really like that we are going to implement this year. Things that will give us a little variation on the things that we currently do.”
Garner said the biggest factor to figure out is who is going to be the team’s scorer. “We lost our top two scorers from last year, so we have to find out who is going to step up and fill that role,” Garner said. “You have your ideas of who you think it should be, but sometimes you have to wait until you start playing to find that out.”
