College recognized for online classes

Lurleen B. Wallace Community College is among the state’s top 10 colleges for online classes and degree programs.

OnlineColleges.com released the ratings recently and LBWCC is ranked No. 10 out 55 schools in Alabama that offer online classes or degree programs.

OnlineColleges.com is a website that provides reliable information about top online colleges and degree programs by featuring school rankings, program guides and career outlooks.

Also in the Top 10 are:

  • Troy University;
  • Columbia Southern University;
  • Athens State University;
  • Jefferson State Community College;
  • Gadsden State Community College;
  • University of Alabama at Birmingham;
  • Wallace State Community College;
  • The University of Alabama;
  • Wallace Community College Selma.

According to the study, 40.53 percent of LBWCC students are enrolled in online education courses.

“We are delighted to receive recognition as one of the best colleges in Alabama to take online courses,” LBWCC Dr. Herb Riedel said. “LBW offers eight degrees and certificates where students can obtain over half of the credits through online instruction. We have rigorous methods to ensure that every online course meets high standards of content and delivery. Consequently, our students are very successful in these courses. We are in the 89 percentile of student success in online courses in a study comparing LBW to similar colleges.”
