Candyland officially opened to the public Friday night, and hundreds came out – many from out of town – to enjoy a snow show, ice skating, the polar bear slide, and cottage play.

“We had a good opening night,” Chamber Executive Director Chrissie Duffy said. “We didn’t have huge crowds, but what we know from years past – and from the inquiries we’ve received – is that the crowds get bigger every week.”

A random survey found local families, as well as groups from Crestview, Louisiana, and Auburn. Some of the out-of-towners were in town to participate in the Civitan Holiday Half Marathon and 5K, and took advantage of the extra activities for kids.

Candyland is coordinated by the Andalusia Area Chamber of Commerce with the support of the City of Andalusia and a number of sponsors.
