Mary Ann Weed

Mary Ann Weed died Nov. 13, 2016, on her 92nd birthday.

She was preceded in death by her husband of 68 years, Sam Wilson Weed; her son, Sam DeLarry Weed; and her grandson, Larry Scott Weed.

She leaves, to cherish her memory her daughters, Jennifer Weed (Ken) and Gwendolyn Weed (Robert); grandchildren, Stephanie Weed (George), Mary Kristen Frank (Jonathan), and Nicholas Galanos (Betsy); great-grandchildren Anna-Scott King, Tallulah Eden Frank, Samuel Harrison Frank, Isaac Nicholas Frank, and Scarlett Diana Frank, nieces, nephews, and friends. Mary Weed will forever be remembered as a smart and strong woman who was dedicated to her faith and her family. She was a loving wife, mother, and friend. Until Alzheimer’s sabotaged her life four years ago, Mary enjoyed lunching with friends, playing with her grandchildren and great-grandchildren, exercising daily, cooking for loved ones, attending church and being an active member of the North Mobile community. She lived her life well, cherishing each day, always thankful for each moment, and never forgetting she was a child of God.

Funeral services were held Thurs., Nov. 17, 2016, in the Chapel of Pine Crest Funeral Home at 11 a.m.

Vivian H. Miller

Mrs. Vivian H. Miller, 80, of Andalusia, passed away Sat., Dec. 3, 2016, in Deatsville, Ala.

Funeral services were at 11 a.m. on Mon., Dec. 5, from Foreman Funeral Home Chapel with interment in Andalusia Memorial Cemetery. Visitation was Monday at Foreman Funeral Home. Ben Bowden and Dr. Jason Thrower officiated the service.

She is survived by two daughters and sons-in-law, Renee and Rich Emanuel of Prattville, and Jenny and Russell Small of Tallahassee, Fla.; four grandchildren, Russ (Jessica) Small, Jordan Small, Alex (April) Emanuel, and Michael (Cassie) Emanuel; four great-grandchildren, McKenna, Brantley, Braxton, and Eli; and one brother and sister-in-law, Andy and Linda Hughes of Brandon, Miss.

She is preceded in death by her husband, James C. Miller; and a brother, Lomax Hughes.

Memorials may be made to the Andalusia First United Methodist Church or the Joyce Beasley Nursing Scholarship Fund (DMSTC Foundation PO Drawer 1418 Andalusia, AL 36420).

Glen Alford Henley

Mr. Glen Alford Henley, 83, of Andalusia, passed away Sat., Dec. 3, 2016, at his residence.

Funeral services will be at 10 a.m. Tues., Dec. 6, from Foreman Funeral Home Chapel with Brother Ed Ganus officiating. Interment will follow in Stone Lake Cemetery. Visitation was Monday at Foreman Funeral Home.

He is survived by his son and daughter-in-law, Jayson and Suzanne Henley of Andalusia; a daughter, Cynthia Lynne Brackins of Ft. Wayne, IN; six grandchildren, Dale (Leah) Grimes, Kayla (Kyle) Lucas, Katie (Adam) Rogers, Emma Henley, Madison Henley, and Lyla Henley; six great-grandchildren; and a brother and sister-in-law, Charles and Daisy Henley of Andalusia

He is preceded in death by his wife, Ellie Odom Henley; and a brother, Leon Henley.

Harry Truman Finley

Mr. Harry Truman Finley, age 70, of Andalusia passed away Sat., Dec. 4, 2016, in a Dothan hospital.

Funeral services will be held at 10 a.m., Wed., Dec. 7, 2016, at Keahey Chapel. The family will receive friends from 6 to 8 p.m. Tuesday at Keahey Funeral Home.

Interment will follow in Dixie Cemetery with Keahey Funeral Home & Cremation Services.

Survivors include his girlfriend, Lisa Weeks; sons, Jerry Lynn (Shelly) Finley of Opp, Gary Wayne Finley of Zepher Hills, Fla., Lloyd Derand Finley of Opp, and Russell Eugene Finley of Opp; and two grandchildren, Camilia Finley and Jacob Finley.

 

 

Charles Henderson

Charles Henderson, age 89, of Baker passed away on Sat., Dec. 3, 2016. He was born in Baker, Fla., on Nov. 21, 1927, to Preston and Virgie Henderson, and has been a lifelong resident of Baker. He served his country in the United States Navy and was a member of Goodhope Congregational Church. Charles enjoyed wood working, but his passion was volunteering with his community. He was a founding member of the Baker Rec Center, donated the property at Cotton Bridge for the park, founding member of the volunteer fire department in Baker, founding member of Baker Lions Club, founding member of the Baker Block Museum, where he volunteered for 20 years, founding member of the Baker Water Board, active member of Baker Alumni Association, on the county zoning and planning board for eight years, member of Muskogee Indian tribe in Bruce, Fla., member of Beaver Creek Masonic Lodge, and served as the Grand Deputy to the Grand Master for state of Florida.

Survivors include his wife of 67 years, Jeanette Henderson; children, Dale Henderson of Baker, Rebecca Watkins and husband Michael of Baker, and Jim Wood and wife Kerry of Crestview. Charles had 11 grandchildren: Gretchen, Tyler, Christina, Michele, Charlene, Jessica, Jonathan, Reshay, Ian, Danielle, and Keeley. Also surviving are 16 great-grandchildren and numerous nieces, nephews and extended family. Charles loved to help people in need and was a friend to many people.

Visitation will be Tues., Dec. 6, 2016, at Whitehurst-Powell Funeral Home from 6 until 8 p.m. The celebration of Charles’s life will be on Wed., Dec. 7, 2016, at 10 a.m. at Goodhope Congregational Church with burial to follow in the Goodhope Cemetery.
