The Andalusia varsity boys’ basketball team picked up a over Luverne to tip off the season on Tuesday night, and now the Bulldogs (1-0) have their sights set on Geneva in tonight’s home-opener.

“I was pleased with the effort in the first game,” Andalusia head coach Anthony Clark said. “I really believe that this team has a high ceiling. Early in the game, we were pressing and we struggled to execute, but we got better as the game went along.”

The early struggle was something that Clark said he expected.

“It was the first game of year, and honestly, it went about the way that I thought it would,” Clark said. “With that said, it’s a lot better to be saying that after a win.”

Tonight, the Bulldogs will take on a tough Geneva squad.

“They are a good team from what I’ve hear from other coaches,” Clark said. “They have scored more than 100 points twice this season, so you know that they have the ability to move the ball around. The key for us is going to be locking down on the defensive end of the court. Our biggest concern at this point is still us, but we are going to get better as the season goes along.”
