The No. 9-ranked Andalusia Bulldogs powered past Geneva in the Bulldogs’ home-opener on Richard Robertson Court in Andalusia.

Andalusia’s B.J. Anderson got the scoring started with smooth layup early in the game.

Trey Wilkerson then added a layup to go up 6-1.

Wilkerson tried for a 3-pointer a few moments later, but the ball rattled off the front of the rim. Allan George skied up for the rebound and slammed the ball home to put Andalusia on top 8-3.

The Bulldogs continued to stretch out the lead when Anderson buried a 3-pointer to put Andalusia up 17-7.

At the end of the first, the Bulldogs were on top 21-8.

Ke’Shon Townsend started the second period with a 3-pointer to get the Bulldogs off to a strong start.

A few minutes later, R.J. Drish dropped one in from downtown to put Andalusia up 29-13.

At halftime, Andalusia was on top 43-24.

Anderson got a steal during the third period and tossed a lob up to Wilkerson, who rattled the rafters with a thunderous dunk.

Geneva continued to battle back and cut the Andalusia lead to 63-60 midway through the fourth period.

Andalusia hit free throws and stretched the lead back to double-digits in the closing minutes.

“It was kind of tale of two halves tonight,” Andalusia head coach Anthony Clark said. “In the third, we took some quick bad shots and turned the ball over. That’s not a good combination. We have to learn to play all four quarters. We are far from a good basketball team right now, but we have a lot of potential and we will get there.”

Anderson led the Bulldogs with 35 points in the win.

Wilkerson had 19 points.

In varsity girls action, the Lady Bulldogs fell 50-25.

Andalusia’s B-team defeated Geneva 45-40.
