Youth sports? There’s an app for that

For parents whose children play sports with Andalusia Parks and Recreation, keeping up with your child’s schedule and events just got a little easier, thanks to a new app.
Caitlin Shipman, program director, said that they launched the app on Thursday.
“It’s just a new app we have going,” she said. “It is broken down into sports.”
Shipman said that if it’s basic news will have the city logo or if it’s a specific sport it will show that as well.
“It’s just another way for us to notify our parents,” she said. “I know a lot of parents use apps, and a few other parks and rec departments were using them and we decided to offer it for our community.”
Shipman said the app can be downloaded from both iTunes and Google Play stores for free.
“Just search, ‘Andalusia Park,’ and it should pull up,” she said. “This app has a direct link under standings to practice and game schedules for our various sports.”
Shipman said right now the information available is very basic, but they are feeling their way through the app to see what else they may be able to offer.
“We are excited,” she said. “This is just one more thing we are able to offer to get our information out there.”
