In varsity girls’ action, the Lady Bulldogs blew past the Lady Bobcats for a 52-16 victory.

“I kind of felt like we started the game slow, but picked it up a it went along,” Lady Bulldog head coach Brad Garner said. “Once we started to relax and let things happen, instead of trying to force it, we got a lot better.”

The Lady Bobcats went up to start the contest, and it took the Lady Bulldogs a few minutes to find their first basket.

Once the Lady Bulldogs got rolling, they never looked back.

Andalusia went up 13-2 after the first period and was then on top 46-9 heading into the final period.

“I really felt like we played strong in transition,” Garner said. “We were making passes and executing. We were able to get some of the younger girls in their and I really was pleased with what I saw from them tonight.”

Andalusia kept their foot on the gas in the varsity boys’ game and the Bulldogs came away with a big 69-29 victory.

Opp’s Orlando Lacey got things rolling with a 3-pointer to give the Bobcats an early lead.

The Bulldogs got a big momentum swing when big man Trey Wilkerson drove the baseline and finished it with a massive one-handed slam.

Moments later following a Bulldog miss, Wilkerson caught the ball off the rim and pounded it back home for another monsterous dunk.

At the end of the first period, the Bulldogs led 13-8.

Andalusia continued to add on and took a 37-17 lead into halftime.

At the end of the third period, the Bulldogs were on top 59-29 and they wouldn’t allow the Bobcats to get another point.

“It was kind of a slow start for us,” Andalusia head coach Anthony Clark said. “Those two dunks from Trey really gave us some energy early on. I felt like our defense played O.K., but we did miss some rebounds. There in the third period we were able to sub in five new guys and they really just brought in a whole new energy with them. They were the unsung heros. Guys like Jaden Brown, Alex Sheridan, Curtis Daniels, Adam Peek, Zack Woods, Derrick McQueen, Roosevelt Weaver and Glenn Crayton that really came in played a great game. Overall, I was pleased with the effort that I saw from our guys tonight.”

B.J. Anderson led the Bulldogs with 14 points. R.J Drish finished with 12 points and Weaver ended the night with 10 points.
