The Covington County Commission on Tuesday adopted the resolution in support of the 2017 Severe Weather Preparedness Tax Holiday.

This is the sixth annual Severe Weather Preparedness Sales Tax Holiday, beginning Fri., Feb. 24, 2017, at 12:01 a.m. and ending Sun., Feb. 26, 2017, at midnight.

The holiday gives residents the opportunity to purchase certain severe weather preparedness items free of state and county taxes.

Among the items for which taxes can be waived are batteries, cell phone batteries and charges; portable radios and light sources, non-electric food or water storage systems; and other supplies that might be necessary in an emergency. A full list is available at www.revenue.alabama.gov.
