CHRISTMAS TOURNEY: Andy defeats Red Level, 80-27

The host team Bulldogs played the Red Level Tigers in their opening round game.

Andalusia started off fast against doubling up the visiting Tigers in the first quarter 18-9.

BJ Anderson’s three pointer capped off the first period.

RJ Drish’s three got the Bulldogs started in the second as Andalusia put up 25 more points on their way to a 43-14 halftime lead.

A pair of three pointers by Curtis Daniels started the second half with Andalusia scoring 22 points in the third quarter.

With Andalusia up 65-16 entering the fourth the clock continuously ran with the Bulldogs edging the Tigers by four points 15-11. The Bulldogs won 80-27 and will take on Straughn in round two tonight at 7:30 pm while Red Level will play Florala at 4:30 pm.

“I am pleased with how we settled in and played defensively after the first five minutes or so and we got to get everyone into the game” said coach Anthony Clark on his team’s win. “We need our student section out tomorrow night we have a big game” he added.

Every Bulldog on the Andalusia roster registered points Thursday, with BJ Anderson leading the way with 15 points. RJ Drish, Adam Peek, Glen Crayton each added nine.

“Andalusia is a very good team and very well coached,” said Tigers coach Allen Catrett following the game. He also added “we need a game like this in order to prepare us to get better.” The Tigers were led by Chance Russell who had nine points and Ontaryo Nearor had eight.
