CHRISTMAS TOURNEY: Opp bests Florala for 1st win, 6th place

The Opp Bobcats picked up their first win of the season on Saturday night as they hammered the Florala Wildcats 63-32 for a sixth place finish in the final round of the Andalusia Christmas Invitational Tournament.

Opp came roaring out of the gate and shell shocked the young Wildcats.

Orlando Lacey accounted for 8 points in the opening frame to put the Bobcats on top 22-2 after one period of play.

Anthony Tillis and Reggie Thompson added 4 points each for Opp in the first period.

The Bobcats continued to play strong in the second period, and the Wildcats also sparked to life in the frame.

E.J. Reed knocked down a 3-pointer for the Bobcats to help give Opp a 35-14 lead at halftime.

Lane Craig and Nealand Stone chipped in 4 points each for the Wildcats in the second period.

Lacey got the Bobcats out to fast start in the third period with a quick drive through the lane for a layup.

Staying with the hot hand, Lacey dropped in a midrange jumper to extend the Bobcat lead.

Lacey remained on fire and finished the period with 11 points.

Andeon White and Craig had 5 points each for the Wildcats in the third period.

Heading into the final frame, the Bobcats held a 50-24 lead over the Wildcats.

Both teams continued to grind it out in the final period, with the Bobcats cruising to a 63-32 victory.

Lacey led the way for the Bobcats with 19 points.

Trey Burleson finished with 10 points to led the way for the Wildcats.
