Anderson has been missing since last week.

Anderson has been missing since last week.

According to Opp Police Chief Mike McDonald, the body of an adult male was discovered in a wooded area adjacent to Cool Springs Road inside of Coffee County.

Mc-Donald said the body was identi-fied as James Mo-nroe Ande-rson, 36, of Opp.

Coffee County Sheriff’s investigators and Opp Police investigators examined the scene and determined that Anderson died as a result of a self-inflicted gunshot wound, McDonald said.

Opp Police on Friday held a press conference about Anderson’s disappearance and said they were concerned that he could be a welfare risk.

On Friday, OPD said Anderson disappeared with nothing more than the clothes he had on, and that he was considered endangered because of his possible mental state.

Additionally, they conducted a foot search of the area of Cool Springs Road; the Opp Fire Department dive team searched ponds in the immediate area and the Walton County Sheriff’s Office sent a helicopter to conduct an aerial search. All searched turned up nothing.
