Bobcats push past Red Level

In the first round of the Georgiana Christmas tournament, Covington County foes Opp and Red Level met for the first time this season with the Bobcats coming away with a 65-49 win.
Both team started off slow with Opp taking a five point lead with time winding down. Red Level cut the Bobcat lead to just two after Preston Mitchell hit a buzzer beating three as Opp led 11-9 after one. The Tigers kept pushing the momentum in the second quarter going on a 8-0 run at one point to take the lead midway through the period behind two 3 pointers from Kade Green. At the half the Tigers led by one 24-23.
The Bobcats came alive in the second half scoring 20 points in the third quarter alone almost doubling their score. Reggie Thompson and Orlando Lacey combined for 13 of the Bobcats 20. After three Opp had regained the lead by eight 43-35. The Bobcats continued their push in the fourth spreading the ball around with seven Opp players scoring. Vittorio Red scored six in the fourth as the Bobcats put up 23 in the final eight minutes for a 65-49 win.
Reggie Thompson led the Bobcats with 14 points while Orlando Lacey had 12. For the Tigers Ontaryo Nearor had 21 to lead all scorers and Kade Green had 11. Opp will play Georgiana in the championship game today at 7:30 while Red Level plays Sweetwater in the consolation game at 4:30.
The Opp Lady Bobcats picked up their first win of the season when they knocked off Red Level 26-16 in the opening round of the girls’ Georgiana Christmas Tournament.
Karley Wilson and Autumn Killough each knocked to 3-pointers to give Opp an 18-9 lead at halftime.
Christian Hinton led the way for the Lady Bobcats with 8 points.
Natalie Feagin finished the game with 7 points to led the way for the Lady Tigers.
