The Andalusia Lady Bulldogs hammered past the Lady Tigers, and the Bulldog varsity boys’ team picked up their ninth straight win on Tuesday night in Andalusia.

ANDALUSIA 54, STRAUGHN 27

In varsity girls’ action, the Lady Bulldogs jumped out early and held off the Lady Tigers for a 54-27 victory.

Alex Crittenden played lights out and lead the Lady Bulldogs to victory with 34 points.

“Alex played probably the best game I’ve ever seen her play,” Andalusia head coach Brad Garner said. “I was very proud of the way we played as a team tonight. Straughn was playing without a few girls tonight, and we were very fortunate to get that kind of win against them.”

ANDALUSIA 46, STRAUGHN 35

The Straughn Tigers kept the Bulldogs off balanced all night, but the No. 2-ranked Bulldogs fought through adversity to pick up a 46-35 win.

Matt Worley got Straughn on the board first with a quick bucket after pulling down an offensive board.

B.J. Anderson then tied the game with a jumper.

Trystian Barber knocked down a pair of 3-pointers to give Straughn a 13-9 lead at the end of one.

The game remained close until midway through the third period, when the Bulldogs took control.

Anderson picked up three consecutive steals to help the Bulldogs go up 38-28 heading into the final period.

The Bulldogs wouldn’t let go of that lead.

“I think we are suffering from a little mental fatigue,” Andalusia head coach Anthony Clark said. “Hats off to Straughn, though, they had a great game plan and they really keep us from doing what we wanted. I’ve been coaching for 18 years and you are going to have games like this were nothing seems to fall, but I’m proud that we found a way to win.”

Anderson led the Bulldogs with 20 points in the win.

“I thought we played really well defensively,” Straughn head coach Bradley Stephens said. “We played well on offense in the first half, but we kind of got away from that in the second half. It’s like I was telling the guys, anytime you go out and compete you will give yourself a chance to win. Now, we just have to compete in every single game.”
