Covington County property owners have paid in $7.2 million in property taxes so far, the revenue commissioners’ officer said.

The county mailed out $11.4 million in annual property taxes at the end of September.

“We lack $4,133,150.26,” said Dianne Thompkins of the office. “We are doing really well with our collections. It has been coming in pretty good. We are real pleased.”

Thompkins said the availability of online payments has really helped with payments.

For those who haven’t paid theirs yet, they have until Dec. 31, to pay without penalty.

The office will be closed Mon., Jan. 2.

The office is open Monday through Friday from 8 a.m. until 5 p.m.

When paying by mail, send the bill or bills and payment to “Revenue Commissioner of Covington County, 1 North Court Square, Andalusia, AL 36420.”
