Couple nabbed for meth lab

A Loango couple is facing a flew of drug charges after agents with the 22nd Judicial Drug Task Force located a meth lab inside their home.
Drug Task Force Agent Greg Jackson said deputies with the Covington County Sheriff’s Office went to a home on Zell Ready Road in the Loango area in an attempt to pick-up a wanted suspect.
While deputies were at the residence they located John Coopera and Candice Mallard, as well as items used in the manufacturing process of methamphetamine and contacted drug task force agents and requested they come to the scene.
When agents arrived, the located a shake and bake methamphetamine lab and finished product methamphetamine.
The pair were arrested and charged with manufacturing first, possession of a controlled substance and felony possession of drug paraphernalia.
Their bonds were set at $350,000 each.
“Without alert deputies who are well-trained, this lab would not have been found,” Jackson said. “Covington County is lucky to have such alert and well-trained deputies and police officers.”
