The two Andalusia men charged in last week’s robbery of the First National Bank of Dozier will appear in court next week.

Crenshaw County Circuit Clerk Jeannie Gibson said Friday afternoon that Darren Hayes, 39, and Darryl Hayes, 29, will appear before Crenshaw County District Judge Tom Sport on Jan. 4, at 9 a.m. to enter pleas. Sport also will appoint attorneys to represent them.

The brothers are each charged with robbery first and are being held on a $1 million bond in the Crenshaw County Jail.

The men went inside the bank just before 11 a.m., on Fri., Dec. 23, and demanded money from a teller.

Covington County Sheriff Dennis Meeks was the first law enforcement officer on the scene.

Meeks said he lives near the county line and responded when he heard the call go out.

Other Covington County personnel, as well as Crenshaw County deputies, were on the scene in Dozier studying video surveillance images of the suspect when Brantley Assistant Chief Drew Morgan recognized the suspects’ vehicle.

Morgan turned to follow them, and the two stopped at the Beeline store in Brantley, where they were arrested.
