Eagles sweep Wildcats in area-opener

The Pleasant Home Eagles opened the new year and Class 1A, Area 2 play by sweeping the Florala Wildcats on Tuesday night in Pleasant Home.

B-TEAM

PLEASANT HOME 44, FLORALA 36

The first match of the evening featured the B-team squads for the Eagles and the Wildcats, with Pleasant Home inching out a 44-36 victory.

Neither team was able to pull away from the other in the back-and-forth affair, but it was the Eagles who edged out the win.

Marvin Fantroy led the way for Pleasant Home with 19 points in the win.

GIRLS

PLEASANT HOME 61, FLORALA 33

The Lady Eagles improved their season record to 11-4 with a 61-33 victory over the Lady Wildcats.

River Baldwin had a big night for the Lady Eagles as she led the way with 29 points, 17 rebounds and nine blocks.

Abby Walker and Camille Holley each chipped in 7 points for the Lady Eagles, and Amy Bulger had five steals for the Lady Eagles.

BOYS

PLEASANT HOME 65, FLORALA 58

In the evening’s final game, Pleasant Home (8-7) held off the Wildcats for a 65-58 victory in the Area 2 opener on Tuesday night.

The game went back-and-forth for most of the evening before the Eagles held off the Wildcats in the final minutes for the win.

Tyler Myrick was the Eagles’ top-scorer with 18 points in the victory.

Myrick also added six rebounds for Pleasant Home.

Pleasant Home’s Austin Kelley picked up a double-double for the Eagles after finishing the game with 14 points and 10 rebounds.

Walt Weaver added 10 points, six rebounds, five steals and five assist to help led the Eagles to victory.
