Drought’s over here — for now

Recent rains brought Covington County out of the drought.
According to the U.S. Drought Monitor, the county is no longer seeing drought conditions.
Last week, the northern part of the county was in a severe drought, central and southern part was in a moderate drought and a small portion near the Florida state line and Geneva county line was considered abnormally dry.
According to the Choctawhatchee, Pea and Yellow River Watershed Management Authority, over the last three days, the gauges at Yellow River Hwy. 55 collected 2.16 inches of rain and the gauges at Yellow River Hwy. 84 collected 1.70 inches of rain.
