Two Opp men were arrested after they attempted to flee from a traffic stop at Burger King on Saturday.
Opp Police Chief Mike McDonald said that an OPD A-shift officer who was working an ADECA traffic grant detail stopped a 2001 Chevrolet Silverado pickup truck that was speeding on Perry Store Road in the Burger King parking lot.
“As the officer was exiting his patrol vehicle, two subjects exited the pickup truck and ran on foot across the Florala Highway toward South College Street,” McDonald said. “The initial officer and member of B-shift pursued the two subjects and took one into custody on South College Street.”
McDonald said the second suspect was located behind a residence hiding in a tree line.
Officers conducted an investigation, and located and seized approximately 5 ounces of marijuana that was in the individual’s pickup truck.
Arrested were Olajuwon Oneil Hines, 22, of Opp. Hines was charged with violation of probation, possession of marijuana first degree, possession of drug paraphernalia, obstruction of government operations and attempting to elude.
Also arrested was Devin Jarelle Davis, 23, of Opp. He was arrested for possession of marijuana first degree, possession of drug paraphernalia, obstruction of government operations and attempting to elude.
Both were booked in the Covington County Jail.
