Officer Tyler Patterson, who is this week’s APD officer of the week, has served the citizens of Andalusia for nearly two years. He began his career with Andalusia Police Department in 2015.

He received his APOSTC certification from the Alabama Criminal Justice Training Center in Selma, Alabama.

In addition to his duties with the Andalusia Police Department he also serves as an operator on the Covington County Incident Response Team.

Officer Patterson is also a member of the Alabama National Guard where he has served for more than five years.

He and his wife make their home in Andalusia with their son.

Officer Patterson enjoys spending his free time cheering on the Alabama Crimson Tide and fishing. His favorite local sports team is the Andalusia Bulldogs and his favorite thing to eat is cheesecake.

Officer Patterson said that his plans for his career are simply, “to be the best officer I can be and see where this career leads me.”

“I met Tyler few years before I was promoted to chief,” APD Chief Paul Hudson said. “He had expressed his interest in becoming a police officer then and he wanted to serve and protect the citizens of Andalusia. I knew from the first time I met him that he would be a great asset to Andalusia PD. He continues to grow and develop, seek knowledge, and is proactive. That’s what I like to see in all our officers.

“Tyler is laid back, genuine and sometimes quiet but he is always polite and gets the job done. I look forward to many more years with Officer Patterson,” he said.
