The BP on South Three Notch was burglarized early Tuesday morning.

Andalusia Police Chief Paul Hudson confirmed the burglary.

“We are aware of the burglary and we are currently investigating it,” he said. “We do not have a suspect at this time and we have not made an arrest.”

Owner Bhavika Patel said security footage shows that two guys came into the store around 2:30 a.m.

The store closes around 10 each night.

“They stole a bunch of cigarettes,” she said. “They also stole condoms, cigars and cookies and (cash).”

Patel said the burglars broke the glass in the doors.

“They really made a mess of things,” she said.

Patel was in shock when she talked to the Star-News.

“I can’t believe it,” she said.

Patel believes the perpetrators are regulars to the convenience store.

“We let things go. If you don’t have money, we are so helpful and the same people are the ones who did that to us,” she said.

Overall, Patel said she is thankful that she, her husband, Kevin, nor her employees were there to be injured.

“We’ve had this store for five years,” she said. “We did have a robbery once in our parking lot of our clerk.”

Patel said an Andalusia Star-News newspaper carrier notified police when he went to put Tuesday’s newspaper in the racks.
