Escambia County hands Andy 1st loss of season

The No. 2-ranked Andalusia Bulldogs were handed their first loss of the season when Escambia County knocked off the Bulldogs 50-46 Friday night in Atmore.

In the opening period, Andalusia’s B.J. Anderson lead the charge with 10 points, but Escambia County was on top 18-15 heading into the second period.

The Bulldogs struggled to get anything going in the second period offensively, but also kept Escambia County from running away with the contest.

At halftime, the Bulldogs trailed 25-23. Anderson was top scorer in the second period for the Bulldogs with 4 points.

The Bulldogs got things started in the third period with big buckets from Trey Wilkerson and R.J. Drish to help give Andalusia a 38-36 heading into the fourth.

However, Escambia County was able to fight back in the final period to knock off the Bulldogs 50-46.

Anderson led the way for the Bulldogs with 20 points.

Drish and Wilkerson finished with 8 points each.
