Relay for Life sets goals: $100K, 20 teams

This year’s Covington County Relay for Life event may be more than three months away, but organizers are searching for teams.

So, far 14 teams have signed up.

“Our goal this year is 20 teams and $100,000,” said Relay for Life’s Randi Bozeman.

Bozeman said this year’s them is “Once Upon a Cure.”

“All teams can choose a fairytale to design their tent site and team shirt after,” she said.

The event is set for April 21, at the Kiwanis Fairgrounds. It will kick-off at 6 p.m., and will end at 10 p.m.

“Teams can begin setting up at 8 a.m., and must have vehicles off the grounds by 3 p.m.,” Bozeman said.

The next organizational meeting is set for Tues., yJan. 17, at David’s Catfish House.

It will begin at 6 p.m.

“Any current team captains or members are encouraged to come and get information on upcoming fundraising events and information about the night of Relay for Life,’ she said. “Also, anyone interested in creating a team or becoming a sponsor are encouraged to come as well.”
