The Andalusia City Council on Tuesday heard from a group who asked the council to improve signage on the western bypass that designates the highway “Veterans Parkway.”

John Vick, Ben Bowden and Sammy Glover addressed the council.

Vick said the city has done a good job with the entryway and other focal points in the city.

“We’re just asking you to dress it up a little and complement what is already done,” Vick said. “There is no sign there that is visible to motorists.”

He also asked for signs to be added where Dunson and Church Street intersect the bypass.

Mayor Earl Johnson said the state Department of Transportation controls signage and traffic flow on the bypass.

While the bypass was named “Veterans Parkway,” he said, the name is not used for postal addresses.

“We will talk to them and see,” Johnson said.
